Meet the Coaches
Meet Coach Sean Gallagher
FounderExperience:
In High School, Coach Gallagher was a two-time 1st Team All-Conference and 1st Team All-State Catcher culminating with starting behind the plate at New Mexico’s All-Star Game in 1988. Following his senior year, he was recruited by Harden Simmons DIV 2 in Abilene, TX as a Catcher. From 1989-1992, he played for Division 1, New Mexico State University. Since 1996, Coach Gallagher has coached and instructed ball players at all levels. In 2010, Coach Gallagher, founded Playball Prospects LLC. , Player Development Program, and in 2011, the travel baseball team the Gashouse Gang. He is currently the head Coach of the Gashouse Gang Travel Baseball Teams in Southern Oregon.
Coach Gallagher is a seasoned Coach and has been awarded several achievements throughout his Baseball career:
- Southern Cascade League Coach of the Year in 2013, 2015 and 2017
- Oregon’s State All-Star Game Coach 2017
- Oregon’s Baseball Coach of the Year 2017
- Golden State Collegiate Conference Coach of the Year 2019
In 2017, while Head Coach of St. Mary's High School Baseball Team, they won the State Championship. Overall Record as Head Coach, Wins: 106 - Losses: 37
Expertise:
Coach Gallagher’s expertise are, New Era Hitting/Pitching Mechanics, Catching and Infield Techniques.
Goal for each athlete:
Coach Gallagher strives to give each player real knowledge on how to maximize their skill set. He believes in building each athlete's confidence on the field to allow for the best baseball experience at all levels. His focus is never on winning, but on player development. Winning will be the natural outcome.
Meet Coach Jen Mendenhall
Co-OwnerExperience:
Coach Mendenhall has played Softball since the age of 7 and starting pitching at the age of 11. In all 4 years of High School, she played Varsity Softball, was first team All-Conference all 4 years and State MVP. Coach Mendenhall received a full ride scholarship to the University of New Mexico. As a freshman, she was the main starter and pitched more than 80% of the games. She also made the USA Nationals team. Unfortunately, Coach Mendenhall got injured and became an alternate for a year before being told her injury was too severe to continue pitching.
Expertise:
Coach Mendenhall comes highly experienced in pitching and has coached privately for the past 15 years. She has been a Head Varsity coach for a local High School and in 2019, she was the first base coach for the Medford Rogues. Her Major in College was Kinesiology and Physics. She wanted a complete understanding of the body and what causes the ball to move the way it does.
Goal for each athlete:
Coach Mendenhall believes that by providing the athlete with an understanding of how their body works and how it correlates to the ball response, will make them the best player they can be; not only physically, but mentally as well. Teaching the athlete how to correct where they are struggling is a huge confidence boost for each player. This is how they learn to rely only on themselves for correction in the game. Coach Mendenhall strives to teach each athlete to become their own coach.
Meet Coach Tre'Von Dorsey
Experience:
Coach Dorsey played College, Travel Baseball, and was a 4-year Varsity Letterman.
Expertise: Morality, Outfield, and Hitting.
Goal for each athlete:
Coach Dorsey wants to give kids some swag and confidence in their abilities. It's about helping them understand that there's a starting point for everybody and they have to put in the work to make those strides. Coach Dorsey strives to teach kids how to get over their fear of making a mistake and trusting the process of attacking the game and having fun at the same time. He wants each kid to know the Gashouse/Playball lingo and culture so they can walk away from our program with a lil sauce!
Meet Coach Jesse Spangler
Experience:
Coach Spangler played at Presentation College (PC) 2015-2019, an NAIA school in South Dakota. He made the All-Conference Team 3 times and was a Gold Glove winner for Center Field. During his time at PC, he set 13 school records (5 season/8 career) and led his conference in batting average twice. Coach Spangler played in the Expedition League summer 2018. After finishing up his career at Presentation College, he played one season for Medford Rogues. While playing for the Rogues, he set a single season record for batting average (.388) that stood until 2023.
Coach Spangler coached many teams during his time at college and after. He helped out with the Aberdeen Smittys Legion program while in college and ran many community camps at his school's facility. Coach Spangler has coached at the Gashouse for 4 years now along with some time at Eagle Point High School. He is currently the JV coach at Grants Pass High School.
Expertise:
Hitting and Outfield. Coach Spangler learned from one of the best outfield coaches there is, Mike Dahl, who was the 2018 NSAA Coach of the Year and is currently the head coach at Dickinson State University in North Dakota. Coach Spangler also pitched some in college and has learned the mechanics of pitching from Coach Gallagher.
Coach Spangler earned Bachelors Degrees in Exercise Science and Business in college. These degrees have helped him to understand development of athletes on and off the field.
Goal for each athlete:
Coach Spangler wants each athlete to have the best baseball experience possible and to be the coach he needed when he was younger.
Meet Coach Josh Tabor
Experience:
Coach Tabor grew up in Missoula, Montana and played high school ball under one of legions ball's most winningest coaches of all time, Brent Hathaway, for the Missoula Mavericks (over 1000 wins and counting). Coach Tabor was selected to the 2014 Montana Legion All-State team after posting a .360 batting average with 8 HR and 5 3B.
Coach Tabor worked privately with retired former MLB/MiLB and SEC hitting instructor Pat Wintterrowd. He was recruited by and played for the Presentation College Saints and 2018 NSAA Coach of the Year Mike Dahl. In his only complete season, Coach Tabor posted a .300 batting average with 4 HR and 12 2B.
In 2016 Coach Tabor had a summer job as an assistant coach for a Western Montana area summer/fall travel team, whose coaching staff included former San Francisco Giants assistant coach and current Philadelphia Phillies assistant coach, Dustin Lind.
Expertise:
Hitting and Outfield. Coach Tabor also has a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science.
Goal for each athlete:
Maximize each athletes potential and show them just how capable they are - once they understand the correct mental and physical process required for success in baseball. Primary goal overall is to help kids grow the tools and characteristics to better handle whatever life may throw their way.
